Why do some films and stories move us more than others?

Some films entertain us, while others follow us. They return through a song, a scene, a line or a colour. They seem to touch a very precise place within us.

Identification is not always obvious

We do not only identify with characters who resemble us. Sometimes we are moved by the one who dares what we hold back, protects what we fear losing or crosses a wound we have never named.

Films carry memories

A film seen in childhood, a series shared with someone or a world discovered during a fragile period carries more than its plot. It often preserves a piece of personal context.

An emotion may need a language

Some emotions are difficult to explain directly. A story can make them visible without reducing them: nostalgia, the need for connection, fear of abandonment, the desire to begin again or the joy of finding refuge.
