What our favourite characters say about us
A favourite character is not always a role model. Sometimes they are a mirror, a contradiction, a refuge, a warning or a more expressive version of something already within us.
The hero we admire
When a character inspires us, they may point to a strength we value: courage, loyalty, freedom, humour, gentleness or clarity. Admiration often says something about our values.
The character who unsettles us
Some characters fascinate us because they carry a more troubling side: anger, pride, loneliness, control or the urge to break everything. Looking at them symbolically does not mean approving of them.
The comforting character
Other figures reassure us. They recall a familiar place, a loyal bond, a way to survive or a promise we would like to hear more often.
